Welcome to thanet blinds. We have a collection of blinds to enhance your home and office, but when selecting your blinds there are a number of things that you need to consider. First, What do you want from your blind? You may need protection from strong sunlight, privacy, anti glare or light control. Where are the blinds to be fitted? Will there be children or pets in the room? What is the space used for?
Positioning
With children and pets you have to consider the safety factor of your blinds. Are the control cords likely to cause injury? Are your blinds going to give you the privacy at night that you get by day? If the room is used for working you may require an anti glare blind that will help with computer or television screens. In a less formal, more relaxing environment you may want to go for something to enhance your colour scheme.
Operation
Think about the operation of your windows, i.e. you would not want to put a roller, roman or vertical blind on a tilt and turn window. But you would be able to fit a venetian blind with hold down clips, or a pleated blind. Do you open the window a lot? This is not an ideal place for wooden blinds as they are heavy to raise and lower, you may want to consider a lighter blind.
Vertical Blinds
Vertical blinds will fit in most windows, but they do use the windowsill space. They are versitile, give privacy whilst allowing you a limited view out, and come in a huge variety of colours.
Roller Blinds
Roller blinds give complete privacy when they are down, but do obscure the view. They come in a large range of fabrics and colours and can also be blackout blinds. Blackout roller blinds do not have to be black but come in a range of colours. Ideal for bedrooms and bathrooms.
Roman Blinds
Roman blinds are the nearest that blinds get to curtains. They can come with a standard lining or a blackout lining. These give you complete privacy when down, and can be a great addition to your home. There is a huge range of fabric and colour choices in Roman blinds.
Venetian Blinds
The ever popular venetian blind is an all round blind. It will cut out glare, give you privacy and a very contemporary look to your home or office.
